Coastal protection and development, coastal zone engineering

In view of current forecasts of climate change and rises in sea levels, the protection of sensitive coastal zones has to be rethought. Familiar with the issues of coastal erosion, Artelia designs and supervises the implementation of sustainable coastline management projects in various countries. Artelia was appointed to supervise beach nourishment works in the gulf of Aigues-Mortes, Frontignan and Vias in France, and performed a physical model study of the coast of Congo. A comprehensive operational hydro-sedimentary model of the Mont-Saint-Michel Bay (France) built with the Telemac system is supporting work to restore the maritime nature of the Mount. Artelia is currently carrying out a coastal protection study in Congo and designing coastal protection works at Cap Lopez in Gabon using physical and numerical hydro-sedimentary mathematical models.

 

Artelia also performs statutory studies (impact assessments, Natura 2000 procedures,etc.) for coastline and estuary projects and draws up plans to prevent coastal risks such as erosion and floods.
