Electrical infrastructure planning

For an operator or ministry responsible for energy issues, any planning and modernisation work must begin with an accurate assessment of available resources and demand forecasts. Artelia is capitalising on its knowledge of the electricity sector to help several governments draw up least-cost development plans, taking account of their needs over the next 20 to 30 years and defining the resources required to meet them while optimising security and preserving the environment. For example, Artelia evaluated the hydropower potential of three valleys in Albania and recommended avenues for development. For the European Investment Bank, Artelia carried out an economic, financial and technical assessment of the Gibe III project, which will be the largest hydropower scheme in Ethiopia (1870 MW with a dam 240 m high).
