With 6 production lines worldwide, 4,000 patents and over 10% of sales devoted to R&D, Soitec is a major player in the electronics industry and a leader in the semiconductor materials sector. Soitec has chosen its Grenoble site, the company’s historic headquarters, as the location for a new production facility, mainly dedicated to the manufacture of silicon carbide substrates. These new materials, patented by the company and named SmartSiC™, offer power systems significant gains in terms of performance and energy efficiency, opening up new possibilities for manufacturers, particularly those in the electric vehicle sector (increased autonomy, reduced charging time, lower costs…). The plant extension will also enable the company to step up production of its flagship product, silicon-on-insulator (SOI).

Artelia is in charge of the design and construction supervision for this extension, for which the foundation stone was laid in 2022. The overall project involves the creation of 2,500 m² of clean rooms (ISO 4), of which a first tranche of 1,350 m² is currently under construction. Our teams are also responsible for creating the various technical areas for utilities management (electricity, gas, ultra-pure water, etc.).
