Alkion Le Havre
A giant tank farm at the cutting edge of security
A company specializing in the storage of chemical products, Alkion undertook the creation, in the industrial port of Le Havre, of a logistics infrastructure comprising 26 storage tanks for petrochemical products.
This large-scale project has created a storage facility with a total capacity of 33,000 m³, one of the largest of its kind in France.
Artelia provided complete project management for the construction of this park.

CONTEXT & ISSUES
Alkion operates nine bulk liquid storage terminals in five countries (France, Portugal, Spain, Italy and the Netherlands). In France, the company is particularly active in the port of Le Havre, where it has created a vast logistics platform. Over an area of 40 ha, 26 storage tanks, ranging from 500 to 3,000 m³, have been built, providing a total capacity of over 33,000 m³. The tanks were reinforced with specialized materials, improving their impermeability. A series of facilities were also built to link the tanks to the maritime, rail and road infrastructures used to receive and ship the stored substances.
Artelia carried out the detailed design for the entire project. Our teams also provided procurement assistance and works supervision. The project drew on the Group’s wide range of skills in processes, piping, electrical engineering, boiler making, civil engineering and structural steelwork.
