CONTEXT & ISSUES
Inaugurated in 1912, the Carlton has established itself as a symbol of dreams and elegance, welcoming many celebrities and film stars over the decades and the Cannes Film Festival. Last renovated in 2007, the hotel’s owner, Katara Hospitality, decided in 2016 to carry out a major modernisation operation, focusing on extending the two historic wings and creating a conference area and garden in the heart of the block.
Artelia was responsible for the construction of the two wings, spanning 6 levels and housing 37 luxury flats, including 1 penthouse of 1,000 m2 with terrace, swimming pool, jacuzzi and bar. Three basement levels have also been created to house a spacious conference centre (800 m2), a ballroom and a Spa-fitness centre. Above ground, a Mediterranean garden and swimming pool have been laid out. The interior spaces have also been completely refurbished, using top designers and craftsmen. As always with this type of project, particular care has been taken to respect the many features listed as historic monuments (façade, lobby, grand salon, monumental staircases, etc.). In March 2023, the Carlton Cannes was able to reopen its doors and impress its customers and visitors.
