Revitalizing of Christophe-Colomb Avenue
Better connectivity between neighborhoods to promote active urban living
As part of its 2023-2027 Vision vélo plan, the City of Montreal is planning to add at least 200 km of new, safe bicycle lanes over the next 4 years, thanks to 40 projects, including 10 new axes of the Réseau express vélo (REV), plus the development of the local network.
This expansion aims to extend the cycling network to all boroughs and ensure its connectivity, encouraging people to choose cycling for their daily commutes.

CONTEXT & ISSUES
The aim of the Christophe-Colomb Avenue development project was to create new one-way bicycle lanes, stretching from boulevard Gouin to boulevard Rosemont, and linking four Montreal boroughs over a distance of some 7 kilometers. Our team played a key role in bringing this initiative to fruition, designing the marking and signage plan, drafting the technical traffic memorandum, and developing the programming and traffic light plans for the avenue’s various intersections. Thanks to this project, Avenue Christophe-Colomb now offers safer, more sustainable travel for pedestrians, cyclists, bus users and drivers.
