CONTEXT & ISSUES
Air Austral, a Airline based in reunion island, has announced an order for 2 A380s , coming in 2014 and 2015. This project meets the dual challenge of maintaining and adapting the 2 existing runways to accommodate the A380. the customer wanted to anticipate the effect of swell on its runway.
The challenge was to carry out a complete project, including the preparation of tender documents and supervision of construction work.
All the construction work has being carried out while the airport remains in operation, necessitating the implementation of a complex phasing plan, in coordination with various stakeholder (operator, the civil aviation authorities and the various users of the platform. )
The mission consists of carrying out preliminary studies, project studies, assistance with the awarding of works contracts, approval of execution studies, supervision of works execution and assistance with acceptance operations.
Among others, the services included:
- The reinforcement, resurfacing and enlargement of runways 14/32 (2670m x 45m) & 12/30 (3200m x 45m).
- The reinforcement, resurfacing and enlargement of taxiways.
- The reinforcement, resurfacing and enlargement of taxilanes (Alpha).
- The construction and implementation of a drainage and rainwater runoff network.
- The daytime guidance lights and runway lights.
- Airport Safety Impact Assessment.
The studies were carried out by ADPI and Artelia.
